In the origonal box marked with pencil with the price of $10.00.

It is just a small little gold mesh pouch, that could barely hold a cell phone, lipstick and a few credit cards... well maybe not my cell phone (it is a bit of an antique itself!)

This is the top of the bag, a small disk a bit bigger than a quarter. This cap flips up and allows you to open the bag up.

Isn't that just the most clever thing? I am totally in love with it.

It won't make it into EJ's dress up box. I think it is going into mine. Now I just need someplace to go!
I was just checking this out on flickr - very cool! (I have a habit of seeing people's posts brfore they post that way.)
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I love how it opens up! I think even if a cell phone could fit I'd forget to bring it on the occasion that it made its way into public:) It's snazzy!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I just did a quick search on Ebay, which confirms that this company has been making ritzy little bags in metal mesh since the 20s. (Most of them go for significantly more than $10 on ebay, haha!) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I collect vintage bags. The bag I last purchased is structured like this bag (I think it's called a gated bag). That you have one complete with the original box is making my hands shake as I type, lol. I don't know that they're hugely valuable (though they're definitely worth more than their original selling price!), but they're just so cool, aren't they??? What a cool find and a great gift. I agree, it belongs in your dress-up bag. Sorry EJ!
ReplyDeleteWhoa that is cool! I bought a dress recently and have nowhere to wear it. We should go out, you with your little bag and me in my dress. I am thinking you might want to wear a dress or something too because by the looks of it that bag won't cover much of you.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I LURVE it!
ReplyDeletevery cool!!! love the gated opening :) fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is just so cool!! How awesome.
